RO
Water Sdn Bhd is a Malaysian company established in
1997, with the objective of producing exceptionally
pure water. It is one of the largest manufacturers using
the reversed osmosis process in Malaysia. With a purpose
built 90,000 sq. ft factory located on the outskirts
of Kuala Lumpur. RQ Water has a current production capacity
of 13,574,600 of bottled reversed osmosiswater per month.
Standard bottle sizes are 1.5 litres and 0.5 litres.
The Company has made substantial investment in the latest
processing and automation equipment from Europe, America
and Japan. The high level of automation at the plant
enables smooth production and fast turnaround of orders.
Most
of our product are taken in by domestic market, but
a significant proportion is exported overseas, namely
Japan, Australia and Singapore. The quality of our production
system has also not escaped attention. In 1998 R O Water
was awarded the prestigious SGS IS09002 certificate,
becoming the first Malaysian company to receive it.

Source
water is drawn from the national water supply and undergoes
a three-stage treatment process:
- Raw
source water from the national water supply is filtered
through three separate filters. Most drinking water,
available for human consumption, only undergoes
this three-stage filtration process. There is no
further treatment.
- The
filtered water passes at very high pressure through
a series of seven semi-permeable reverse osmosis
membranes, preventing the passage of any dissolved
solids, including salts and heavy metals.
- Permeate
(water that has passes through the reverse osmosis
membranes) is then treated with ozone, to ensure
the complete removal of any bacteria and contaminants.
Ozone is a colourless gas that is produced by sending
a high voltage of electrical discharge through air
or oxygen. It is a powerful oxidizer with the ability
to rapidly kill bacteria. Ozone quickly decomposes
to normal oxygen and dilutes with water once it
is bottle

Bottling |
 |
The
purified water is ready to be bottled up. However, as
with every aspect of
our production, the bottles to be used have to be of
the finest quality and are prepared with the most painstaking
care. The bottles used are made of polyethylene terephatalate
(PET), a high quality material that does not leave a
plastic taste in water, unlike previous plastic materials.
Before filling, the bottles are rinsed with permeate
mixed with ozone. This precaution
is taken to ensure that any microorganisms present in
the bottle are
eliminated. The ozone remains active for 6 hours, after
which it inevitably
breaks down into oxygen.
With that done, sterilized bottles are filled up with
the purified water. Then, the bottles are capped immediately,
completing the product.
